On the bench today we have the American Dj Quad Phase Go, one of the latest in a series of battery powered DJ lighting geared towards events where you either are short on AC power, or just want a quick cordless setup at an event.
The Quad Phase Go is a smallish square box that weighs in about 14lbs which most of that is the lithium battery.
For our testing, we happen to have a wedding out on the green at a local vineyard. This particular place on the property was serviced by a single 15Amp circuit that our Dj system had to share with the lights provided by the decorator. This gave us a reason to use the two Mega Go Bars in our inventory for color wash and the Quad Phase Go for movement.
Setup was simple using the four button control panel for sound active and once it was on the stand, we left it there til it got dark. Then, with a flip of a switch, our Go lights were able to fill a 40'x40' dancefloor with light.
Using the Sound active mode, the Quad Phase appeared to keep up quite well but we did question the part of the internal program where the light went into slow motion during a fast dance. This we are told is a normal occurrence and after a few revolutions of the program, it was unnoticeable.
On our return trip, we pondered the many places the Go series would be useful in other than the obvious. Being in a rural area, what came to mind was parade floats, events being held at campsites, events where you are running sound off of a small generator, and yes, the last hole on the golf course where power is very limited.
On a side note, that night we ran the Quad Phase Go for a little over 4 hours non-stop and forgot to recharge it for the wedding the next weekend where we ran it for about 5 hours. Since the battery was rated for only 8 hours, we found this to be a hidden plus.
If you need a light movement and either don't have the power or just don't want to mess with cords, check out the American DJ Quad Go. This light will give you the coverage and movement you are looking for.
