As the DJ gear provider for ESPN's X Games events, TASCAM DJ has been outfitting the sites with an array of mixers and pro audio gear since 2003. From the Winter X Games in Aspen to the X Games in Los Angeles, all of the DJ kiosks are stocked with TASCAM's pro X-9 and X-17 mixers, dual CD-X1700 CD players and the TT-M1 scratch controller. With the conclusion of Winter X Games Nine in early February, TASCAM's DJ gear performed flawlessly in the below freezing conditions of Colorado and was deemed a hit with event producers and DJ's alike.
"The gear was great and worked well in temperatures averaging below freezing throughout the day," relayed Juan Casas, Sales & Marketing Manager, The Mars Group and action sports marketing consultant. "TASCAM is such a great partner for all our DJ equipment needs because the gear is solid and the mixers are so much fun to use. Plus, we love the new features on the CD-X1700's like the hot starts/cue points and MP3 capability. X Games DJ's prefer the TASCAM gear over anything else in the marketplace."
"The CD players are just blowing doors off anything I've gotten my hands on yet," commented DJ Whakball, X Games music consultant and resident DJ. "At 10,000 feet, in towers sitting in sub zero temperatures overnight, we had absolutely no problem with the gear in Aspen. Once the CD players were warmed up correctly, they were a breeze. They lost absolutely no functionality. You couldn't even tell we were using them in adverse conditions."
X Games 11 is scheduled for August 4-7, 2005 in Los Angeles, CA—the event’s third consecutive year in the area—and if last year's numbers are any indication, this event should be bigger than ever. Last year’s X Games aired completely live for the first time on ESPN and ABC, delivering record average viewership. On-site attendance over the four-day event totaled 170,471. TASCAM DJ, as well as TASCAM, will be on-hand to showcase its DJ gear in a "Learn to DJ" environment as well as providing DJ talent for the music stage. TASCAM will again have a booth, along with Fender Musical Instruments and other music industry vendors, where event goers can get hands-on experience using the new portable CD trainers and Portastudios, including the DP-01 & DP-01FX 8-track digital units.
