Published Jan 17, 2004

Edirol today unveiled the P-1 Photo Presenter which allows the triggering of still images via the 5.7” color LCD touchscreen, V-LINK capable device or MIDI controller. The P-1 allows the performer to play a greater role in what is happening visually during a performance including the synchronization of image replay with the audio.

NAMM 2004 Edirol Announces New Concept in Visual Performance Tool-Spotlight

The P-1 is a Photo (jpeg, bmp), Audio (wav, mp3), & MIDI (smf) player. It offers 64MB of internal memory as well as a PC card connection for extended memory. Media can be loaded via the USB port connected to any computer or accessed via the PC Card. Load pictures direct from a camera’s memory card with the adapter of choice via the PC card input. In addition, audio can be recorded into the unit via the stereo RCA inputs or the ¼ mic input.
Video outputs are composite as well as high quality S-video - switchable to either NTSC or PAL.

The P-1 includes transition effects such as dissolve &slide as well as a virtual keyboard and selection of fonts for titling. The instantaneous response of the P-1 makes it ideal to play stop-motion animation sequences (a series of stills) – a very hip visual technique. The P-1 is ideal as a performance source for the VJ, a presentation tool for corporate use, as well as a visual tool for worship.

The P-1 Photo Presenter lists for $1575 and will be available in April.
