Triple Play

Published Mar 1, 2004

No, that’s not a traffic light . . . Those red, green and yellow beams you see are radiating from four revolutionary new laser DMX effects from American DJ: the Tri Image, Tri Beam, Tri Star and Tri Fecta.

Remarkably, each of these lasers is capable of generating three different colors—red, green and yellow—from a single unit. Each unit features two 4.9mW laser diodes, one red and one green, which, when combined, create a yellow-colored beam.

Amazingly affordable, the Tri Image, Tri Beam, Tri Star and Tri Fecta will electrify dance floors and inspire DJs and clubs everywhere with their dazzling color visuals and cutting laser beams. These units can be operated from any universal DMX controller, allowing for great ease of use and providing practically unlimited creative potential.

The Tri Image, Tri Beam, Tri Star and Tri Fecta can also be plugged in and left to run on their own using their many built-in programs or via a sound-activation mode that follows the beat of the music. For an amplified overall effect, DJs can link multiple units together in master–slave configurations.
Each of the lasers in American DJ’s new “Tri” series offers different features and benefits that make it individually unique:

• The Tri Image produces red, green and yellow effects all at the same time. All effects are created using a 4.9mW red laser diode, a 4.9mW green laser diode and a reflector mirror that rotates 360 degrees. The Tri Image is programmed with 50 pre-set geometric patterns and 800 effects, plus a 3D effect that adds significant depth to each image. Operation modes include DMX, stand alone (sound active or auto) and master–slave (sound active or auto). Portable and compact, the unit measures 6.5 inches long by 4.5 inches wide by 6.5 inches high and weighs only 4.5 lbs. The Tri Image has a suggested retail price of $1,199.95.

• The Tri Beam uses its three-color laser and eight spinning mirrors to produce eight flat, solid beams of red, green or yellow light. Operation modes include DMX, stand alone (sound active or auto) and master–slave (sound active or auto). The Tri Beam comes with a 4.9mW red laser diode, a 4.9mW green laser diode and two hanging brackets that allow for a choice of vertical or horizontal light dispersion. It carries a suggested retail price of $1,199.95.

• Capable of covering a very wide area, the Tri Star is especially suitable for larger venues. Red, green and yellow beams bounce off of six mirrors that rotate 360 degrees to create brilliant, room-encompassing laser effects. Programmed with 50 pre-set geometric patterns and 800 effects, the Tri Star operates in three different modes: DMX, stand alone (sound active or auto) and master–slave (sound active or auto). It includes a 4.9 mW red laser diode and a 4.9 mW green laser diode and comes with its own hanging bracket. Suggested retail price: $1,199.95.

• The Tri Fecta is a basic model designed for DJs operating on a budget. Like the other three units in the series, the Tri Fecta produces red, green and yellow lasers that can be easily manipulated to create eye-popping effects. DJs can rely on the Tri Fecta’s numerous built-in patterns and programs, or they can control the unit themselves via three DMX channels. Operation modes include DMX-512, stand alone (sound active or auto) and master–slave (sound active or auto). As an added bonus, the Tri Fecta features circuit-breaker protection, so there’s never any need to change fuses. Portable and compact, the unit measures 11.5 inches long by 8.5 inches wide by 8 inches high and weighs just 7.5 lbs. The most affordable unit in the “Tri” series, the Tri Fecta carries a suggested retail price of only $859.95.
