New White and Black Trussing From Global Truss

Trussing used to be strictly functional, a rig that supported lighting fixtures that was best hidden from view. But today all that’s changing -- truss is stepping out of its role as a “supporting” player and moving into the spotlight. Appreciated for its edgy, techno-industrial look, truss is becoming a part of the interior design at theaters, clubs, churches, retail stores, galleries, exhibits, events and stage productions.

Global Truss America is addressing this trend with the introduction of white and black aluminum square truss. In-stock and ready to ship in a variety of lengths, Global’s new white and black-colored trussing makes a stylish statement that will complement and blend in with a variety of applications.

The white truss, for example, is ideal for rigging lighting at houses of worship – which have increasingly gone to using white fixtures -- as well as for occasions such as weddings and proms. Black truss can add a sleek, contemporary look to everything from theaters and trade show exhibits, to restaurants and retail stores.

“Truss today is meant to be seen,” said Ken Kahn, general manager of Global Truss America. “Architects, designers and lighting directors like the way it looks and are incorporating it into their aesthetic schemes. We came out with white and black truss in response to the growing role that truss is playing in event, production and interior design.”

Manufactured with a high-quality white or black powder coating that has been specially treated for durability, the colored truss will maintain its good looks for years to come, even when put through the rigors of touring or rental use. “We used a special treatment to make the powder coating both very durable and very attractive and rich-looking,” said Kahn. “It can take a lot of bumps and knocks without scratching or chipping.” The black truss is stocked in a polished finish only at this time (black matte truss is available by special order only for larger projects.)

The underlying truss itself is TÜV approved and made of the same high-strength 6082-T6 extruded aluminum alloy as the rest of Global’s line. This material is so strong, rigid and corrosion-resistant, that it’s used by the aviation industry for aircraft construction. Additionally, like all of Global’s trussing, the new white and black truss utilizes a genderless conical coupling system, which offers the advantages of quick assembly, greater versatility, and superior rigidity, especially at key stress points.

The white and (polished finish) black truss is stocked in 12” square segments ranging from 4.92’ to 9.84’ in length. Matching white and black junction blocks are also available. No special orders are required for these products, noted Kahn. “One thing that distinguishes Global is the huge inventory of truss that we keep in stock that’s ready for shipment upon order,” he said. “This same ‘in-stock’ practice applies to our white and black truss in standard lengths of 4.92’ up to 9.84’ – it’s shipped the same day it’s ordered. Of course, if a customer wants black matte truss or another color, they can special order it from us.”

Like all of Global’s products, the new white and black truss is extremely affordable, with retail prices starting at $399.99. One end of connecting hardware is included with each truss segment.
