American DJ Introduces Rainbow Tube II

Published Dec 12, 2005

There might not be a pot of gold at the end of the Rainbow Tube II, but there is certainly more value for the dollar in this upgraded American DJ LED color tube. While featuring the same cost as the original Rainbow Tube and the same LED technology, the Rainbow Tube II has been substantially improved with RGB color mixing and 0-100 percent dimming for more control and more mood-setting options.

Great to illuminate bars, lounges, club foyers, restaurants, architectural applications, and even retail displays, the high output Rainbow Tube II is easy to use and is also more versatile than ever. It can plunge a lounge in a warm, intimate atmosphere using a dim, static setting, but it can also electrify a space using chases, strobes and full capacity brightness.

The Rainbow Tube II is a very versatile cutting-edge product.

“The Rainbow Tube II is a very versatile cutting-edge product, ” said Scott Davies, general manager of the American DJ Group of Companies. “It combines the best of ambiance lighting with the incredible possibilities that DMX-control RGB color mixing has to offer. And with the added dimming feature, users now have an amazing control over the mood they want to create.”

The Rainbow Tube II is also versatile when it comes to its operation. It can be used two ways: either with its own proprietary Rainbow PP II controller alone, or with the Rainbow PP II paired with any universal DMX-512 console.

When used with the Rainbow PP II alone, the Rainbow Tube II can be run very easily from pre-programmed sequences to create 6 colors plus white. When used with both the Rainbow PP II and DMX, the Rainbow Tube II allows users to customize their own effects with features like RGB color mixing and 0-100 percent dimming.

One Rainbow PP II can control up to 1000 color tubes that can follow 40 internal chase and color sequencing programs to set the perfect mood. From the inconspicuous atmosphere created by solid and static red, green, yellow, blue, purple, cyan or white, to the more visually stimulating chase and color sequences, the Rainbow PP II makes controlling the Rainbow Tube II a very easy process.

For more advanced users, the Rainbow Tube II can be controlled from a DMX-512 board through the Rainbow PP II controller to fashion more complex and sophisticated effects. The newest feature available in this mode is 0-100 percent dimming, which allows users to precisely control the brightness of a space to create the mood that best suits their application.

Another great feature available in the DMX mode is the RGB color mixing. Each Rainbow Tube II is equipped with 144 LEDs (48 red, 48 green, 48 blue), allowing users to create virtually any color imaginable. With 4 DMX channels, users can design their own programs and control the chase sequences, the speed of the chase, the speed of the strobes and the time interval between the different effects.

Plus, LED lighting can be placed at close range to any subject or surface without risk of discoloration, fading or overheating, increasing even further the number of applications the Rainbow Tube II can be used for.

“The Rainbow Tube II is a perfect example of how our company is continually striving to bring cutting-edge lighting technology to our customers. And this time we are giving them more value for their dollars by adding features without increasing the price,” Davis said.

Each Rainbow Tube II measures 39”L x 2W ”x 3”H (1000x50x75mm), weighs 4 lbs (1.8 kg) and comes with two detachable mounting brackets.

Each color tube has its own power supply, allowing users to run up to 140 tubes on a single power source with no power boosters needed. The tubes are waterproof and can be used indoors or outdoors to suit a great range of needs. The Rainbow PP II is not waterproof.
