Shure Introduces UHF-R Wireless

Published Nov 13, 2005

Offering superior RF performance and rock-solid reliability, as well as unparalleled control even in large, networked systems, Shure's new UHF-R wireless is now shipping. With 2,400 selectable frequencies across a 60 MHz bandwidth, UHF-R allows up to 40 preset compatible systems to be operated per band. Up to 108 systems can be put to work using multiple bands. Complementing this expanded window of operation is Shure's Advanced Track Tuning Filtering Technology, which shifts onboard RF filtering within selected frequencies to maximize both compatibility and isolation from interference.

Shure Introduces UHF-R Wireless-Body

Engineered to save time and effort in both fixed installations and touring sound applications, UHF-R is outfitted with an advanced feature set including automatic frequency selection with group scan, infrared automatic transmitter sync, and smart menu-driven system operation facilitating quick setup times and intuitive use.

Sounding more like a hardwired system than a wireless, UHF-R draws its crystal-clear audio characteristics from Shure's patented Audio Reference Companding circuitry. Using a variable companding ratio that automatically responds to audio levels, Audio Reference Companding eliminates wireless artifacts and increases dynamic range far beyond the capabilities of conventional wireless systems.

Equipped with a bitmapped LCD display providing access and control to all integral system functions, the UHF-R UR2 handheld transmitter features frequency and power lockout, and is available with a full line of Shure capsules including the SM58, SM86, SM87, Beta 58, Beta 87A, and Beta 87C. UHF-R systems can additionally be used with any Shure headworn, lavalier, or instrument mic, or a WA302 instrument cable when using the UHF-R UR1 bodypack transmitter.

Available in both single and dual-channel configurations as models UR4S and UR4D, the UHF-R wireless diversity receivers feature a flash memory capable of storing six 60-channel custom frequency groups. They are additionally AMX and Crestron compatible, facilitate USB and Ethernet network control and monitoring, and can be customized with an extensive range of accessories including an antenna/power distribution system, passive antenna splitter kit, and active or passive directional wideband antennas. Also included with all UHF-R systems is Shure's Wireless Workbench software, which provides comprehensive PC management of all system parameters plus a real-time view of your complete networked environment.

UHF-R systems have a working range of 500 feet under typical conditions. Depending upon the microphone element, UHF-R frequency response ranges from 40-18,000 Hz, +/- 3 dB, while dynamic range is >105 dB, A-weighted.

Sold exclusively by authorized Shure dealers across the US, suggested retail prices for UHF-R systems begin at $3043 for a single-channel system with an SM58-equipped transmitter.
