Gem Sound announced that their PA series of stereo power amplifiers are now shipping with some key improvements. The PA amplifier design now benefits from an upgraded electronic crossover network, as well as a new limiter for superior overload protection and extremely low distortion. In addition, the faceplate now features a sand-blasted finish that adds an extra detail of ruggedness to the heavy-duty chassis.
Gem Sound Vice President George Dertinger commented: “The Gem Sound PA stereo power amplifiers have been very successful because they offer power, flexibility, and excellent sound quality. We had the opportunity to make a few cosmetic and component enhancements without raising the price, so we decided to keep the same model numbers and simply implement the upgrades.”
The four stereo amplifier models in the PA line are the PA-5505 (2000 watts), PA-4505 (1600 w), PA-3505 (1200 w), and PA-2505 (800 w). All feature dual-fan cooling, illuminated VU meters with level controls, and LEDs that indicate peak and protect status. Inputs include a choice of 1/4” or balanced XLR, while available outputs include Banana binding post, 1/4”, and Speaker On. Tri-mode operation offers bridged mono, parallel, and stereo modes, and three levels of sensitivity include 1.44, 1.0, and .7 volts. Power can be switched between 115 and 230 volts, and a ground lift is available. The models range in weight from 36lbs to 63lbs, and are all rack-mountable in two rack spaces with dimensions of 19”W x 3.5”H x 17.5”D.
The Gem Sound PA-5505 has an MSRP of $799.95, the PA-4505 has an MSRP of $649.95, the PA-3505 has an MSRP of $499.95, and the PS-2505 has an MSRP of $399.95. All models are now shipping.
