Gem Sound Has New Battery Powered PA

Published Mar 16, 2005

Combining their decades-long expertise in PA systems and wireless microphone technology, Gem Sound is pleased to announce the MAP-1650 mobile PA system with dual wireless microphones. This self-contained system features an extensive array of features in a single portable enclosure, including a CD player, tape deck, and wireless receivers for the two included wireless microphones. Two 8-inch speakers are powered by an internal 100 watt amplifier, and the MAP-1650 can be powered from its internal rechargeable battery for up to six hours.

The CD player, tape deck, and wireless microphones have independent volume controls. In addition, the MAP-1650 features three external inputs with volume controls: two mic inputs for wired microphones, plus a line input. A rotary tone control adjusts the main output. A line output allows linking the MAP-1650 to another powered speaker, and there is also a record out. The rugged, all-in-one design includes a retractable luggage handle and wheels for easy transport.

Gem Sound Vice President George Dertinger commented: “The beauty of the MAP-1650 is that you can use it virtually anywhere, anytime. It runs up to six hours on an internal battery, so you can move it around on a whim, even take it outdoors or any place where AC power is not readily available. Just pull up the handle and roll it away! With its two wireless microphones, built-in CD player, and tape deck, the MAP-handles many PA situations without the need for plugging in a single wire.

The Gem Sound MAP-1650 is scheduled to ship in March with an MSRP of $899.95.
