Held at the legendary Fairmont New Orleans Hotel that stands adjacent to the French Quarter in the central business district, the fourth annual Tape Op Conference will include many workshops and panels. Plus, this year the conference hosts a working "Pot Luck" Studio, where panelists will be doing live demos of their recording techniques. Panels include interviews with noted producers, mixing on a budget, the future of recording, and on opening night "The Not-So-Late Show" will premiere — the talk show comes to TapeOpCon with amazing guests and musical acts. Workshops include building a compressor, Pro Tools, Nuendo, Logic, Digital Performer, Tracktion sessions, compressor techniques, tips for buying used gear, surround, recording, solo artists, mastering, studio business pointers, understanding digital audio, home recording, using equalizers, D.I.Y. software and more. Everyone from Harry Shearer to Steve Albini will attend, and on Friday and Saturday nights there will be live music showcases at The Howlin' Wolf.

"Tape Op is honored to have The Recording Academy's Producers & Engineers Wing involved with TapeOpCon 2005," said Tape Op founder Larry Crane. "We're happy to extend to all Recording Academy members a special discount to attend this year's event, which will be the biggest and best one yet. We're proud to have the P&E Wing host our opening event and sponsor our closing party. I look forward to seeing everyone there."
