Published May 24, 2004

MONDAY, AUG. 30
PRODUCTION WORKSHOP:
“Music-Making for Mobiles & Beginners”
DJ Russ Harris rocks mobile gigs, but his studio and mixing skills have landed him on MTV2’s “Monster Mix.” Here he explains how his remixes & original productions have scratched his artistic itch & benefited his bottom line.

TUESDAY, AUG. 31
PRODUCTION WORKSHOP:
“Studio 201: Making Tracks & Beyond”
Dave Gadbois has seen all angles of the remix/production game. In more than a decade of studio work, Gadbois has done remixes for services like X-Mix and Hot Tracks for artists ranging from Celine Dion to Jay-Z. So in this intermediate look at music creation, Gadbois will go beyond the baby steps. He’ll explain the ins and outs of building a studio to fit your budget and running a profitable and creative music operation.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 1
PRODUCTION WORKSHOP:
“The Production & Remix Business: How the All-Stars Do It”
You want to make the music, but where do you start? You’ve made your music, but where do you take it? You’ve made some industry connections, but how do you get your music heard? The industry likes your music, but how do you protect yourself from its shady elements? A panel of successful remixer/producers will address all these questions and answer some of your own.

TUESDAY, AUG. 31
“How to Rock the Clubs & Still Clock Mobile Money”
You have global-DJ aspirations, but at the club you’re making local-DJ fees. It may be a few years before you hit the festival circuit, so is it time to take on the potentially lucrative mobile market? How can one aspect of the DJ game help pay for another? Meet DJs like Suzy Solar & Brian Benning from Florida’s Solar Power Music – they’ve hit the international club circuit, but they maintain a busy mobile schedule. Learn how it’s done.

TUESDAY, AUG. 31
“Digital DJs: Files, Formats, The Future”
The conversation seems to be never-ending, but the digital direction remains ever-changing. Hear from longtime digital DJs who offer the latest dish on digital-oriented DJ products, digital music distribution and the best ways for mobile and club jocks to benefit from the new technology.

MONDAY, AUG. 30
“Sounding Off: The Latest Pro Audio for DJs”
Digital isn’t the only new direction for DJ products—the world of speakers, amps, mixers, source components and more has expanded as well. DJ Times’ audio product reviewers—Boston’s Paul Dailey & San Francisco’s Paul Binder—will offer their personal experiences & take all questions regarding the gear that DJs hold so dear.
