For the first time in its five years of being Canada’s premier trade event for DJs and producers, the Canadian DJ Show, presented by Pioneer DJ Canada, comes to Western Canada. The CDJ Show runs at the BMO Centre (at the Calgary Stampede Park) on May 4th. The CDJ Show Networking Social takes place on May 3rd at a venue yet to be determined, offering a unique opportunity to establish and reinforce valuable professional relationships in the industry. The main show day on May 4th is chock-full of seminars and workshops, an amazing exhibition of the latest and greatest products and services in the industry, including signature features such as the MixZone and DMC DJ Battle.

“We are excited to bring the industry’s most popular brands and our unique and innovative show across the country for the first time,” says Ryan S, CDJ Show Producer. “The industry is thriving in Western Canada, so it is an ideal place for producers and DJs to congregate for the purpose of business and education,” he adds.

Like any other industry that relies on technology, the hardware and software are constantly evolving. The Canadian DJ Show is the ideal venue for DJs to keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and to get educated on how to best use them. The CDJ Show Pro School, presented by Beat Drop, offers hands-on professional workshops featuring industry standard hardware and software from the world's leading manufacturers. The Pro School workshop presenters help DJs and producers take their skills to the next level and allow them to tap into their industry certified and/or nationally proven skills, workflows and tricks of the trade. Each workshop is open to Full Pass holders only and is subject to capacity. Beat Drop is a music production and DJ school in Calgary and the only Ableton Certified Training Centre in Western Canada...

Along with an array of seminars covering a range of industry topics at this year’s show, the keynote speaker, presented by Tricerasoft, is Scott Faver. Scott, aka The Game Master, is one of North America’s most successful DJ/Entertainers. As owner of The Party Favers, and a professional DJ/entertainer since 1980, he has created fun, unique and interactive games for the young, old, famous and infamous, including celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Barbra Streisand, Tom Cruise, and many more.

The MixZone is where everyone can check out the newest and hottest in professional DJ & studio equipment, hands-on. The gear is wired up, powered and connected to speakers and headphones, so people can hear what they are doing, while being as loud as they want. Visitors to the Canadian DJ Show are invited to play and test DJ controllers, turntables, CD players and more, for the duration of the show.

The DMC DJ Battle on Sunday, May 4th is a special event showcasing Alberta DJs as they go head-to-head, live on stage, marking the return of the world’s number one DJ competition to Calgary. It is the traditional six-minute per set DMC solo showcase battle, with the winner advancing to the 2014 Canadian National DMC Championships in Toronto for an opportunity to represent Canada at the World DMC Finals in the United Kingdom. There are also prizes for the top three DJs in the Alberta competition. To register, or for more information, email contactcanada@dmcworld.com.

2014 marks the fifth year of the Canadian DJ Show, its first Western Canadian edition and the first time there will be two shows in the same year - the second taking place in Toronto this fall. Admission: $115 full-pass, $40 exhibition (Sunday) only. Hours: 6pm to 2am, Saturday, May 3rd and 10am-6pm, Sunday, May 4th, 2014.
