Orlando, FL - March 18, 2004 - Once you get to remix the likes of Celia Cruz and Madonna - people begin to take notice. And people have done just that, Promo Only programmers Leony Vega and Dave Dresden have each taken top honors at two of Dance music’s most prestigious events.
Leony Vega, in addition to overseeing Promo Only’s Latin and Rhythm Club series, has long topped the list of Latin’s most in demand DJ/producers. His one-hour mix-show, “La Mezcla Del Medio Dia” is simulcast on stations from Orlando to Boston; his residency at Universal Studio Orlando’s Latin Quarter allows him to keep his skills sharp at he regularly entertains audiences from all over the world; and his remixes - among them Luis Fonsi’s “Quien Te Dijo Eso,” Elvis Crespo’s “Bandida,” and David Brisal’s “Quiero Perderme En Tu Cuerpo - have elevated him to the top ranks of the Latin scene. It is his remix of “Rie y Llora,” by the late Celia Cruz, that earned Vega top honors at this year’s Winter Music Conference; the track, voted Best Latin Remix, proved to be a hit with the International Dance Music Association’s 10,000 member voting body.
After snagging his seventh #1 Billboard Dance Chart hit with the Madonna/Britney Spears collaboration, “Me Against the Music,” Promo Only programmer Dave Dresden (along with partner Josh Gabriel) is showing no sign of slowing down. Dresden, whose list of dance remixes includes artists such as Madonna, Jewel, Sarah McLachlan, Annie Lennox and Deborah Cox, is currently riding high on the success of his performance with his own group, Motorcycle, at the recent 2004 DanceStar USA show - where Dresden also picked up DanceStar’s coveted No-Cover Award for Best Breakthrough DJ. “What can we say, but what we’ve been saying all along,” said Jim Robinson, director Promo Only. “We’re DJs serving DJs.
