At Winter NAMM, QSC Audio Products Inc., the world's foremost
manufacturer of integrated audio systems, will feature the PL6.0 II
power amplifier-a new addition to its legendary PowerLight Series.
Designed for professional touring, permanent installations, and other
SR (sound reinforcement) applications requiring high levels of
sustained power, the new PL6.0 II benefits from QSC's exclusive
PowerWave™ switching power supply technology, the company's
proprietary DataPort for remote computer control and DSP, and an
enhanced design that provides greater airflow through the
chassis-facilitating cooler, more efficient operation.
Housed in a 3RU
rackmountable chassis with a depth of just 17.9", the new PL6.0
II offers four-step Class H output for the highest efficiency of any
linear amplifier. The PL6.0 II delivers 3500 watts/ch @ 2 ohms, 2200
watts/ch @ 4 ohms, and 1300 watts/ch @ 8 ohms (EIA rated)-making this
an exceptional unit for low frequency work such as driving
subwoofers. Similarly, this powerhouse will drive mids and highs with
impeccable clarity in full-range applications. The amplifier's
superlative audio performance is supported by its massive thermal
capacity. Further, the amplifier is fed by a significantly enhanced
version of the road proven PowerWave switching power supply
technology used in QSC's field-proven lightweight amplifiers. This
same advanced technology improves audio performance and lowers AC
current requirements.
The new PL6.0 II
boasts a number of exceptionally useful features, including
selectable clip limiters for lowering distortion and to protect
speakers, plus a standby mode that enables remote AC power control.
The PL6.0 II also includes unique clip-tracking
circuitry that
provides instant recovery and maintains constant damping. The
inclusion of QSC's DataPort facilitates integration into QSControl,
QSC's network audio system-enabling remote gain control, the ability
to check clipping and thermal status, as well as the monitoring of
numerous additional system parameters. This same DataPort also
facilitates the use of signal processing products such as the DSP-4.
For easy setting and re-setting of levels, the PL6.0 II provides
detented gain controls with 2 dB steps.
QSC's new PL6.0 II
provides easy integration into any environment. The amplifier
includes Neutrik® "Combo" (XLR and ¼") and
Euro-style barrier balanced input connectors. The unit's output
connectors include Speakons™ plus custom-designed, extra large
"touchproof" binding post outputs with a 60A rating. To
prevent tripping circuit breakers at power-on, the PL6.0 II provides
Active Inrush Limiting.
