ties The Knot
A letter from the
office of Bruce Keslar:
Fellow
Entertainment Professionals,
Education of the
media and the consumer has always been of paramount importance to the
association, and with this goal in mind we have scored a major breakthrough.
In late May of
this year, the association finally made contact with Ms. Carley
Roney, Co-Founder and Editor in Chief of The Knot.com, the largest
wedding site on the internet. Their company overview states that The
Knot has focused on filling the void created by antiquated wedding
resources and curing the clutter of the highly fragmented bridal
industry. They provide to-be-weds with first class wedding planning
information, tools and resources through online properties and print publications.
In an
uninterrupted hour long phone conversation we were able to pique the
interest of Ms. Roney and she set up a face to face meeting in New
York with Ms. Jennifer Cegielski, Content Director and Ms. Julie
Raimondi, Executive Editor of The Knot Wedding Pages. Ms. Roney
wanted I to know how the association and The Knot.com might better
serve the wedding industry.
During the meeting
the association was finally able to present issues we have considered
so vital to the membership and the industry. N.A.M.E. representatives
began by stressing the importance of the selection of entertainment
in wedding planning and how little respect was being paid to the
professional mobile entertainer. When presented with the latest
statistics showing better than 72% of all weddings last year utilized
our industry they were most attentive. It was also pointed out that a
majority of our industry was not aware of The Knot.com and the
potential benefits it could provide them. The Knot is the # 1 wedding
resource and gift registry on the internet and attracts an average 2
million brides to their site each month. Considering the startling
fact that better than 65% of most professional mobile entertainers'
revenue is generated through weddings, each of these visits could
represent a potential clients The association is seeking to become
the # 1 entertainment resource for The Knot. In order to accomplish
this it will fall upon the association to continue to educate The
Knot executives and also its own members on the potential benefits we
will provide for one another.
A great deal of
information was exchanged during this meeting and the association
feels that a new path of communication has been firmly established.
The association will be linking to their website in the very near
future and will begin networking with their advertising department in
order to provide our members with a connection to their site and to
their publications throughout the country. In the not too distant
future we hope to proudly display The Knot.com's banner on our own website.
The association is
excited at the prospect of working with this ground breaking company
and will continue to pursue this fabulous opportunity to faring
recognition to our members and the industry at large.
In the
associations' continuing efforts to bring our members to the
attention of the media, we submitted proposals to several of the
national television news programs who produce wedding segments.
Again, the associations goal was to educate the media and also the
viewers on the value of selecting a professional entertainer for
their wedding, Our presentation caught the interest of Ms. Haletgh
Safran, one of the producers of "The View". This ABC
daytime Emmy nominated show features well known news correspondent
Barbara Waiters, as well as Meredith Vieira, Star Jones, Joy Behar
and Lisa Ling.
Ms.Safran extended
an invitation to N.A.M.E. to come to New York and meet with her
personally at the network studio offices on June 4th. She was
interested in our presentation and asked quite a few questions. As a
result of our meeting, she suggested that the massage we were trying
to convey was, important enough to be included in an upcoming shows
to air in July and August. The association's contribution to their
scheduled wedding programming will be in conjunction with the
presentation from The Knot. N.A.M.E. will finally have an opportunity
to present the association and its members to a national television
audience. We will keep you informed as we get closer to a scheduled
date for the program.
