GEMINI
SOUND PRODUCTS will start the New Year with a new 82,000square-foot
headquarters facility in Edison, New Jersey, a completely retooled
dealer and customer website (www.GEMINIDJ.COM) and a host of new
professional products for the DJ market. "Focus and energy best describe
what we have
planned for the coming year," remarked Alan Cabasso, president.
"It's an exciting time at Gemini as we reposition the company
for a very strong future. My father, brother and I will again be
involved in the decision making process at every level. We've
expanded our research efforts and will have breakthrough products in
the second quarter. We've also looked at our core strengths and
decided to exit the lighting business and relocate our cabinet
woodworking operations to an offshore facility."
The recent
move to a new headquarters brings the entire Gemini operation to a
single-floor layout. "Our old two-story facility had the space
required to run our woodworking shop," stated Artie Cabasso,
CEO, "but from a management standpoint it wasn't practical.
We're now in New Jersey `s premier Raritan Center Park with neighbors
like Federal Express and Verizon. It's unquestionably a better
working environment for the entire Gemini team."
The Edison,
New Jersey, operation is packed with new merchandise for the upcoming
NAMM show. Dealers can look for a new professional digital turntable,
CD players and mixers. The PDT 6000, Ultra Pro Digital turntable
features adjustable torque and brake sensitivity, digital output,
master tempo function, and key control. It also offers a selectable
pitch control range of 4% 35%, BPM/pitch display and reverse platter
lock. Also on display at NAMM in the Gemini booth (#7413 in the arena
area) will be the CD-400x, CD-1800x, and CD-2000x, single and dual CD
players. The CD-400x includes high-end features like seamless loop,
Master Tempo, and four digital effects including zoom, echo, filter,
and brake. The CD-2000x is a 19" rack mount dual unit and
possesses the same feature as the CD-400x plus five additional cue
points and scratch wheel. The new line is complete with the CD-1800x,
a single frontload unit with scratching capability, digital effect,
seamless loop, Master Tempo and multiple cue points.
This new
merchandise is consistent with Gemini's strategy of offering audio
products with more high-end professional features and a uniform slick
cosmetic appearance. "We're responding to what DJ's and club
owners are demanding," stated Alan. "The market could not
be more clear. Customers are demanding better-looking, more
functional equipment at the best possible price. And dealers want
lines that aren't bogged down with too many slow-moving models. All
of our new products have been designed with this in mind."
Slick new
product designs will be joined with a renewed emphasis on dealer and
end-user support. A new website that went live on December 24
features an easy-to-use format that allows customers to access owners
manuals for every Gemini product, locate dealers in their area, and
chat with fellow users in specialized forums. "The site will be
directed and managed in-house so we can deal with and update it on a
more timely basis," continued Alan. Exiting the lighting
business will free up Gemini service personnel to deal with audio
product warranty claims and repairs in a more timely manner.
"Lighting products by nature require a lot of service. Freeing
our personnel from this burden will result in better turnaround times
for our other customers," added Artie.
"Gemini
has been servicing the DJ community for almost 30 years and continues
its role as an industry leader and innovator. We thank all our
customers for their past support and look forward to working more
closely with them in the future," explained Ike Cabasso,
chairman of the board.
