 The
SA1521 is a two-way, bi-amplified, horn loaded, active speaker
system that features high-quality RCF Precision components including
a high efficiency, light mass, 15-inch low frequency transducer with
2.5-inch inside/outside high temperature coil technology. This
innovative woofer is combined with a new, state of the art, RCF
Precision 1.75-inch titanium dome, 1-inch exit compression driver.
This unique combination allows the system to be crossed over at 1300
Hz enabling the woofer to more efficiently keep up with the
horn/driver combination. The result is that the SA1521 offers much
better mid-band performance than other popular 15 +1 designs.
Power is provided by a fully
integrated amplifier module that contains two separate amplifiers
— one for each driver, which together generate an impressive 500
watts continuous RMS of total power and a maximum peak SPL of 130 dB.
The low frequency amplifier uses the same unique switch mode, Class G
hybrid topology found in Mackie’s proven SRS1500 Active
Subwoofer. In the SA1521, this design delivers 400 watts of
continuous output, and over 650 watts peak at 90% efficiency. The
result is very little power being dissipated thermally through the
heat sink.
Integrated electronics provide
equalization, time correction and phase alignment along with complete
electronic and component protection circuitry. The SA1521 also
includes a single line level volume control.
The Mackie engineered trapezoidal
cabinet is designed to withstand Neanderthal-levels of roadie and
rental company abuse. Mackie molds the top and bottom of the
enclosure using a high-impact resistant composite resin. The front,
back and sides are constructed of heavy duty, 13-ply Baltic Birch
used by fine cabinetmakers and high-end audiophile speaker systems.
The weight-balanced SA1521 features two large-grip side handles while
top and bottom handles allow optimal portability, set-up and repositioning.
