LP Ripper

Do you want to convert your Vinyl LPs, cassettes or tapes  to CDs or MP3 files?

Converting your LPs, cassettes or tapes to CDs or MP3 files is a great way of storing and playing your favourite music.

If you have a CD Writer you can make audio CDs of your music. Unlike vinyl or tape, the quality of the CD doesn't deteriorate every time you play it. You could make your own 'greatest hits' compilation CDs, or be able to listen to your vinyl music in a car or portable CD player by recording the music as WAV format files.

Alternatively, if you record it in MP3 format you can store the equivalent of a dozen LPs onto a single CD. With a software MP3 player like WinAmp you can play any mix of tracks you like, as often as you like, without damaging the originals.

If you have already tried to do this you'll have discovered how fiddly and time-consuming it is, as you have to record each track as a separate WAV file to write to CD or to convert to an MP3 file.

LP Ripper is a Microsoft Windows program that makes the task much easier and quicker.

Record each side of your LP as a single WAV file on your computer using the recording software supplied with your soundcard, or a program like LP Recorder - also from CFB Software.

LP Ripper automatically splits the single WAV file into a separate WAV file for each track. You can use LP Ripper's visual track editing features to trim the start and end of each track to remove the surface noise between the tracks. Once you are happy with the results you can save a selection of tracks, with the name you have given each track, ready to be burnt onto a CD.

If you have a command-line MP3 Encoder program - these are available on the Internet for little or no cost, LP Ripper can use that to produce an MP3 file for each track.

Features

  • Automatically detects the gaps between the tracks

  • Use the Tracks File (TRK) that LP Recorder can generate - LP Ripper then doesn't have to spend time reading the WAV file before it analyses it.
  • Edit track names on the main LP Ripper display
  • Enter the track times, if known
  • Listen to a preview of any track before saving / encoding it

Visual Track Trimming

Trim the start and end of each track visually to a precision of 0.1 seconds by dragging the track marker on the graphical display. The upper display shows the recording level of all of the tracks, highlighting the track you are trimming. The lower display shows the track you are trimming in detail. The Preview lets you listen to the section that you are trimming.

  • Insert Silence Before and After Tracks

  • Configurable to handle a range of command-line MP3 Encoders
  • Drag and drop, and command line support

Availability

LP Ripper is available exclusively as try-before-you-buy software downloaded from the Internet. Go to the CFB Software website at http://www.cfbsoftware.com.au to download a trial copy and to order the full version.
